 Gratitude Shmatitude the book

Gratitude Shmatitude Book by Amy Adams

gratitude shmatitude

Don't just think it, do it!

Stuff happens, life gets messy and once in a while, you get thrown a curveball that unexpectedly hits you square in the face. Getting knocked down from time to time, it’s not always easy to get back up again. You might even lose perspective and forget that there are more extraordinary experiences coming your way. In fact, gratitude is no easy task especially when you’re tired, frustrated, overwhelmed, and struggling. That’s where Gratitude Shmatitude, comes into play. It is a practical guide — your map and compass — that can lead you to a grateful more centered life filled with compassion and enthusiasm.

This practical guide demands that you don’t merely think about gratitude but do it too. Chapters are divided into two parts; think and do. The 'think it' part includes stories and sometimes facts for contemplation and the 'do it' part at the end of each chapter includes actionable steps to take and explore gratitude.

In Gratitude Shmatitude, we learn that being grateful for something or to someone should never be overwhelming or obligatory. Rather, it is an experiential practice of happiness and connection to nature, people, and ourselves. Whether you work through this book in days, weeks, or months, it will guide you on your journey toward habitualizing gratitude and making it a conscious daily practice.

Gratitude Shmatitude! Don't just think it, do it! Book on how to practice gratitude

Gratitude Shmatitude! Don't just think it, do it!

Kindle Edition

Gratitude as a practice can help you put things in perspective. It is an effective tool we can use to bring ourselves into the present moment. It asks us to consciously focus our attention on what is happening now with openness and acceptance. A routine practice can strengthen feelings in you of compassion, warmth, and tenderness. Gratitude is powerful. It transforms lives. It can restore your faith in humanity. It can remind you that dreams can destroy your mediocrity, that life is beautiful and the fact that we indeed exist on this planet shooting through space is nothing short of a miracle. By the end of this book, you just might step into a life filled with gratitude. It’s all up to you.

Amazon Book Reviews for Gratitude Shmatitude

Overall Rating: 4.8 out of 5

I really enjoyed reading this book!

This is a very thoughtful book that I really enjoyed reading. At this point in life, I figured that I had the "gratitude" thing figured out and a book like this is just going to remind me to say please and thank you more often. But, this book is so much more, it offers a fresh perspective on; food, friendships, home and it is a bit of a workbook so I can take notes and practice what I am learning as to new insights into myself. I particularly liked when the author tells a story of a well to do friend that comes to visit and how she handles not being able to roll out the red carpet but still is able to express her love and gratitude for their friendship. I highly recommend this book!

This really is a fun book!

I approached this book a bit apprehensive thinking it to be a “self help” book. Soon after delving into its pages I was pleasantly deceived. Amy points out what we all feel which is gratitude but brings it to the forefront with humor and introspection which does not come off as a lecture but as a person your drinking coffee with. I found this to be a feel good book. Her stories and observations makes the reader more aware of the things we are grateful for and makes one more aware of the simple day top day deeds by others that improve your life. This makes the reader happy! What more could you ask? I would recommend this book to anyone with or without a heart. It’s a fun read which allows the reader to absorb its content on its own or if the reader wish’s, get involved by providing worksheets and a website! How cool is that?
Amy’s ability to point out what we seem to take for granted in a way that is both entertaining and joyful is a gift. The book rolls along at a nice pace with exit ramps that allow the reader to take and get involved or keep on reading.

I guess this is Amy’s first publication and I would expect this not to be her last.

It was a pleasure reading this book and it is one that you can go back to over and over again for the humor, the intimacy and best of all the gratitude one feels for not just the people around you but for all people that touch’s your life in ways we take for granted in our busy lives. It’s a beautiful pause. A pause to take in what is good in an ever increasingly chaotic world.

I am grateful Ms. Adams wrote this book. She also did the cover art which is worth the price of admission!

A quick and gratifying guide on gratitude

As you read the clever title "Gratitude Shmatitude" you can hear the no non-sense approach Amy is about to unfold for you. This awesome little book is broken down into eight digestible and actionable chapters that Amy recommends either working with one a day or even spreading it out over a week for each.

At the end of each chapter there is a journal prompt, a mission, a check list and a task. All very doable and thought provoking. For me, having the reminder that the most important time to practice gratitude is when you are feeling most UNgrateful. Easier said than done, right? Well, not with the help of Amy, through antidote and actionable steps to put in place, you will be well on your way to feeling grateful even in the darkest of times.
Whether the idea of practicing gratitude is new to you or if you are a seasoned veteran, Amy's fun and easy writing style encourages you to delve in and count your blessings.
I HIGHLY recommend this gorgeous book to anyone. Also, is a brilliant gift for someone who is new to the idea of a gratitude practice.
