Release the old and open to what is and the new. This guided meditation will take you on a journey of discovery through imagination.
The Moon appears real in our 3D reality because we experience it through our senses, but that doesn’t change the fact that its light is a reflection. The light we see is illusory – a reminder that our life here on Earth is an illusion (Maya). Do this meditation on the day leading up to the full moon, the day of the full moon or a few days after.
We can think of Maya as a veil of separation that keeps us from the unseen. Maya is sometimes defined as a delusion. And we are indeed deluded when we accept things as reality on the surface level. Things are not as they appear and the full moon and its light remind us of that fact. It also reminds us that Maya is better defined as an illusion since an illusion is a magical mystery where all things that we come in contact with – experienced in this body and mind – are doorways to a deeper reality, not the reality itself. Like the cycles of the Moon, our perception of the unreality changes and flows.
I write more about Maya in the chapter on meditation in my full-colour illustrated book Introduction to Yoga the first of a series titled Don’t Just Think It, Do Yoga! Short and to the point, the book introduces the reader to a variety of yoga terms and concepts. There is also a 13-week planner version to help you keep your life in order and on track. If you have any questions about the book or planner contact me.
